Touseef Mirza grew up in Montreal, Canada where she studied in the health sciences, but was always relentlessly attracted to the visual arts. Although she is a presently working as a Medical Writer, Touseef is avidly pursuing her photography and paintings endeavors in the city that she currently adores living in, New York City.

Painting is a way for me to explore the possibilities of what can be created from nothingness but a mere idea. After establishing an underlying concept of either the shape, color, feeling, and/or momentum of a piece, I readily let the paints and brushes feed me with creative input; almost like going through a meditative process where experimentation becomes key and uncertainty is embraced. This process can be exciting and also frustrating, but greatly enables me to appreciate the practice of creation. I feel that my rational scientific background coupled with my passionate creative demeanor provokes a struggle but yet a balance in my work; some sort of “push and pull” energy. I look forward in incorporating my plentiful life experiences into my images.
